Insulin sensitivity:
1800 divided by total insulin per day.
Total insulin per day is 110 units (detemir + novolog).
By this formula, every unit of insulin will drop your blood sugar by about 15 points.
Example:
So if you are getting to eat and you check your sugar. If the blood sugar is 200 and the goal blood sugar is 125, then you would want to bring down the blood sugar by 75 points. This would mean 5 units of insulin because 5 x 15 = 75.
